Capcom released a new update which allows Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate to go online on the 3DS version of the game, simply by connecting it to the Wii U.

The update, known as the ‘Packet Relay Tool’, was released immediately after tonight’s Nintendo Direct, mainly thanks to the many players who sent their feedback of wanting an option for the 3DS version of the game to go online.

However, there are some requirements for having your 3DS connect to the Wii U. You’ll need to have the console and a Wii U LAN adapter (sold separately) connected directly to your modem or router.

Here’s how you’ll be connecting your 3DS to the Wii U for Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate:

Join the player that is on the Wii U version and you’ll be able to enjoy an online session on your 3DS!

As a side note, only one 3DS or 3DS XL can be connected to the Wii U at a time to play Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate while using this online feature.

Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate is releasing a demo later today on the Nintendo e-shop. The full game will be released on March 19th, 2013.
