With just a couple days prior to the much anticipated PlayStation Meeting 2013, Sony will be having a PlayStation Vita presentation, which can be viewed here.
The presentation will be held by Sony Computer Entertainment Japan’s president, Hiroshi Kawano, at 5pm Japan time on the 18th of February.
The details on what the meeting will be about has not been revealed, so we did a little digging around. The Japanese rumor mills have been buzzing with a lot of news regarding a possible price drop of Sony’s PlayStation Vita handheld.
An online shop, known as joshinweb, has recently dropped all PlayStation Vita sales. Several other smaller stores have also coincidentally stopped selling them after the presentation was announced, which definitely backs up the rumor about a possible price drop.
According to wololo.net, Sony will be working on a 4g model of the PlayStation Vita, which could also be perfect to bring a price drop to all current models. This would also explain Amazon.co.jp‘s recent price change having the 3G PlayStation Vita model match the standard edition.
Given their recent poor sales, it would make sense, as they would also be following Nintendo’s footsteps in the price drop for the 3DS.
Update: As it turns out, the PlayStation Vita Presentation confirmed that the PlayStation Vita will have a price drop. It will be going down to roughly 20,000 yen ($200 or so,) for the standard and 3G models. We’ll most likely hear about a North American price cut in the near future!
